how to cure a head cold // the infallible home remedy

That's right folks: I've decided to share the deepest secrets of herbal home remedies! By following these easy steps, you'll be feeling better in no time!

{1} Recognize your symptoms. For those of you who aren't sure, you generally will have the sensation of getting hit by a semi-truck and your throat will feel like a sheet of sandpaper.

{2} Boil the water! That's right. Boil a big kettle of water and put in a million drops of eucalyptus oil (and gasp as the mintiness thoroughly penetrates every cavity in your head). Get some Yogi tea and pour in scalding water to guarantee perfection.

{3} Go to bed. Try to forget the freezing covers and your sore self. Find a heating pad, heat up a rice bag and throw them on the bed. During the stages of getting better, you'll find that all the pillows, blankets, heating pads and what not will end on the floor in the middle of the night, and you'll be sleeping on a bare mattress freezing cold. Don't worry, that's normal.

{4} Wake up in the morning. Enjoy the loss of a headache but endure the excruciatingly sore throat. Pull your hair in a bun and realize that you also have carpal tunnel syndrome. That's okay, that's normal. Grab the heating pad again, wrap the brace around your wrist, make another cup of scalding tea, and proceed to do school.

You'll never feel sick again!

  3. Poor Bethany. :(

I've heard that if you gargle with apple cider vinegar, it'll help your sore throat.

    My deepest sympathies;)

  4. @ Anna - I've heard that, too. And I convinced myself that I could overcome the vinegar taste by being a brave girl. It didn't work. I ended up spitting it out and screaming for water while Caroline kept asking, "what's wrong?" :)
